Y BAG MAKER PROGRAM
The Y Bagmaker is a social enterprise initiative under VTOC’s Sewing & Tailoring course. It was created to give students more than technical skills — it gives them income, confidence and entrepreneurial experience while they study.
Using donated remnant fabrics, students upcycle materials into functional, beautifully designed bags. Throughout the process, they are exposed to the full product journey — from design and production to pricing and selling at markets and bazaars.
They don’t just learn sewing. They learn business.
Today, the Y Sewing Network has grown beyond the classroom. It now includes VTOC graduates and women’s groups such as Mum’s Sew With Love and Desa Mentari Ladies’ Craft — women who are building sustainable livelihoods through creativity and craftsmanship.
The vision is simple yet powerful:
A movement of women supporting one another to build skills, generate income and shape better futures — for themselves, their families and their communities.
MENTOR MENTEE PROGRAM
The mentor-mentee program at YWCA KL offers invaluable benefits for both participants.
Mentees gain guidance, support, and practical advice from experienced mentors helping them navigate personal and professional challenges. Meanwhile, mentors have the opportunity to share their knowledge and foster the next generation of leaders, creating a positive impact the community.
This program not only strengthens relationships also empowers individuals to reach their full potential.
