12th August 2019 - A Women's Self Defense class was organised in collaboration with Mingle Hostel and taught by Master Alvin Chong, founder of the Borneo Combat Gym in Labuan, East Malaysia and who specialises in both ancient and contemporary martial arts. August opened in style with a Japanese extravaganza on 9th August 2019! We were honoured to have renowned expert Datin Ong Kid Ching in the house to impart the mysterious art of ikebana floristry and origami to delighted guests. 23rd July 2019 - The English Breakfast Tea program was started as a tea session between volunteers and VTOC students to develop conversational English. We are eternally grateful to the Zenzero Group for providing a cooking demonstration and lunch for a fundraising event for our VTOC. It was an enlightening afternoon with cheerful company and great food by Chef Christian and Roberto Guiati which included a short tour of our urban farm, cooking demonstration of various pizzas and pastas which involved our VTOC Culinary students, and a sumptuous lunch in an Italian-inspired setting at the YWCA Hall.

We are excited to see young people like Hemasankarry, a 21-year-old content creator conduct a workshop where students could experiment on tropical-themed food decoration for our VTOC Culinary Students, as part of their education in the culinary arts while sharing about her experiences in setting up a food business despite her young age.
